Funkommunity/ Chequered Thoughts

my friend put me on to the funkommunity where new zealand’s poly neo soul never sounded so good. i keep trying to write a review but their sound, it just sinks in to my soul and i get lost in the rhythm.
reading their website it’s just a block of words making it hard to extract the story behind their work (somebody should fix that) but with isaac aesili smooth electro sounds, and rachael fraser’s sassy voice, i just want to pour them in to a bubble bath and lay in to it until my heart is full.

“With their distinctive mixture of future soul instrumentation and sassy vocal performances, ranging from old school jazz to contemporary r&b stylings, Funkommunity have created a soundscape that is just as surprising as it is persistent. Though there clearly is an authentic, analogue feel to the production, Isaac kept sufficient space for his obsession with 80's boogie, humongous basslines and computer beats. The outcome is no less than outstanding – from the rump shaking uptempo grooves of 'Pass It On' and 'Sorceress', to highly emotional synth-gospel jams like 'Dandilion' and 'You Make It That Way'.” – Music.Net.NZ

so excuse me while i take my bath.
